Asia Argento grew up in Rome Italy. Her family is made up of actors, as is she, herself pursuing both careers. When she was nine she made her feature film debut alongside Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. She had a leading role as Cristina Comencini in her first film Zoo which was released in 1989. Michele Soavi directed The Church 1989. Next, in 1989 she played Nanni Moretti's (also directed by Michele Soavi) child in Red Wood Pigeon. Close Friends, written and directed by Michele Placido in 1992, was the point where Asia's acting career started off. After playing the role of young girls, she moved on to play more complex and mature roles. The film received a great reception in the Cannes International Film Festival. Trauma (1996) as well as The Stendhal Syndrome are other films she has collaborated on with her renowned father. The Phantom of the Opera is the third time she has collaborated together with the director's father. The others are Trauma as well as The Stendhal Syndrome. Asia's feature-length debut is Scarlet Diva (2000) in 1999. In it, she was the lead actor as well as wrote the screenplay. The film came out in May 2000 in Italy and the rest of the world. The film was released on Brooklyn, New York it received an award from the Williamsburg film festival. Anna Lou, her first child, was born to her in 2001. She had directed several music videos. In 2002, she starred as Jean-Marc Barr's co-star in The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) as well as Vin Diesel was the star of Rob Cohen's thriller action The Action. Asia is the writer of numerous short stories that were published in various magazines.
